Venetian Spritz
Venetian Spritz
The spritz is a classic recipe. You can use any aperitif to make one, but when in Venice, the Venetians prefer their own special twist on the Aperol Spritz. The Venetian Spritz uses Select Aperitif Liqueur. Select was created in 1920 in Venice at the Pilla Distilleries. Select uses over 30 botanicals in its blend, including juniper berries and rhubarb root. The rhubarb root gives it that distinct reddish hue that distinguishes it from other Italian liqueurs.
Ingredients
3 parts Prosecco
2 parts Select Aperitif Liqueur
1 part sparkling water
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients together slowly…there’s a lot of bubbles in this drink! Serve over ice and garnish the traditional way with a green olive.
Notes
If you can’t find select, choose any good Italian bitter liqueur. Campari or Aperol work fine, but Select is available in good liquor stores. They even have product finder on their website!
